Buffy Blog

I thought it was kind of funny how the role of the hospital was reversed. The mental hospital is usually the reality and a helpful place, but it was actually the non-reality. It was a place holding Buffy back FROM reality. It was her ideal reality. Although the real world isn't as attractive to her it is the reality, and what must be faced if she is to succeed. Being the hero she is, Buffy comes through.

  1. Good look on the episode. I did not think of it like that when you say the mental hospital is usually the reality. Some people can't accept what's actually real, especially when they end up in a place like a mental hospital. When they are there, like Buffy, it could have been so traumatic that it is hard for them to deal with what is real and what is imagined.

  2. Yeah, reality is a really big deal in this episode. But, why are you so sure that the mental hospital is the fake reality? What if Buffy chose the wrong reality?

  3. Rebecca, I just thought that that was what the viewer was supposed to assume

  4. It seems like in every episode Buffy being the hero comes through. She never gives up and never loses in the end
