Poorly Integrated Quote

Also in episode one we see his vampire knowledge displayed in various situations; he knows Buffy is the Slayer the very first time they meet, and he also was aware of other details, such as the dreams Buffy was having (signaling the Harvest is near). According to Barbara Maio he presents himself as “smart, bookish and quite useful in a non physical kind of way” (Maio 1). These words suit the title of Watcher very well.

I just do not feel like I have discussed the quote well enough after putting it down, although it is not a long quote...

  1. You need to develop your points more with examples from the episode. Also, you need to talk more about your last sentence. Develop that idea.

    So for example:

In the first episode, Giles displays his knowledge of vampire lore in several ways: way 1, way 2, way 3. He also demonstrates a particular knowledge and almost supernatural awareness of the Slayer tradition. For example, when Buffy enters the library for the first time, Giles immediately recognizes her as the Slayer. (Implications of that) In addition to that, Giles is aware of other very specific details about... (dream stuff). (Implication of that). In all these ways, Giles exhibits his worth to Buffy as a resource who is, as Maio describes, "useful in a non physical kind of way": he is smart and bookish (1). These attributes not only suit his role as librarian, but also his role as watcher. (why?)

  2. Your last sentence is very general. You should extend on your point.
